In an unprecedented race, Donald J. Trump has been elected as the 47th President of the United States as pro-gun congressional candidates across the nation swept their races.
In an electoral victory of 277 to 224(at the time of writing), as reported by the Associated Press, Trump garnered a resounding victory, winning contested states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, and Arizona.
The election of Trump is a massive victory for Second Amendment rights. Trump and his Vice President, JD Vance, have taken strong pro-2A positions and are likely to reverse many of the Biden-Harris attacks on the Second Amendment and Constitution.
Notably, as we reported, the Biden Administration created the so-called Office of Gun Violence Prevention, a backdoor attempt to impose more gun control including pushing for an “assault weapons” ban, more aggressive red flag laws, and removing immunity from firearms manufacturers for the actions of criminals, among many unconstitutional initiatives.
Across the nation, pro-gun candidates also swept elections, which included the reelection of Senator Ted Cruz in Texas, and the defeat of anti-gun lobbyist Ryan Busse in Montana. As noted in a press release by Gun Owners of America:
“With such a pro-gun mandate from the voters tonight, we’re ready to hold Republicans to their election promises to protect and restore gun rights,” said Aidan Johnston, GOA’s Director of Federal Affairs. “It is time that Congress finally enact national concealed carry reciprocity, destroy the ATF’s illegal gun registry, de-regulate suppressors, and quit funding unconstitutional ‘red flag’ gun confiscation laws.”
Gun owners are hopeful that the pro-Second Amendment Trump administration will address a long list of federal attacks against gun owners, including:
- reversal of the ATF’s rulings on frames & receivers, FRTs, bump stocks, and other accessories
- reversal of an “assault weapons” ban policy
- de-regulation of suppressors and NFA items
- removal of unconstitutional “red-flag” laws
- creating an environment that encourages national reciprocity
In the coming days, the administration is likely to roll out a more detailed policy on this agenda and we will continue to cover it in detail.
Until then, we continue to encourage you to support your Second Amendment rights organizations as the fight is NEVER over. Please visit our home page for links.
