NJ Backsteps After Issuing Nation’s Largest Gun Ban

Last summer, weeks prior to the Bruen ruling, New Jersey Governor Philth Murphy signed numerous gun control laws. One of those laws banned commonly and legally owned firearms without serial numbers, such as homemade guns. Since NJ also considers BB/pellet guns as firearms, it even would’ve banned those too. The NJ AG issued guidance to law enforcement at the 11th hour not to apply the law to BB guns and also clarified some other points.

Just about every gun owner in New Jersey, by now at least, has a pretty good idea that NJ Attorney General Matthew Platkin doesn’t give a damn about any of our rights. He takes to Twitter on an almost daily basis to remind us that we must never cease fighting for our rights. Most recently, he Tweeted about how he’s “tired” of hearing from the public about “what’s good for public safety.” We don’t think he knows much about public safety OR civil rights.
A Year Since Bruen… What’s Changed?

It’s been one hell of a year since the US Supreme Court’s historic ruling in the case of NYSRPA v. Bruen. We now have 50-state shall-issue concealed carry and unconstitutional gun control laws are falling left and right. However, the left is relentless and they’ve been keeping us on our toes. They’ve also been keeping the court system packed with 2A cases. But post-Bruen, that’s a good thing, isn’t it?
3rd Circuit Decision Reinstates Most of Carry-Killer Law

In a disappointing, but not entirely unexpected, given who the judges are, decision, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit issued a partial stay against Judge Bumb’s recent preliminary injunction in the now-consolidated cases of Koons v. Platkin and Siegel v. Platkin. These cases challenge just about every aspect of New Jersey’s carry killer law that makes most of the Garden State off limits to civilian concealed carry.

I had heard of, but never attended, one of Tony Simon’s 2A4E Diversity Shoots before. I’m sorry I didn’t. I attended the most recent one, in Monroe, NJ, and I had one of the most memorable and enjoyable times at a shooting range that I can recall. People from all walks of life were in attendance. It shattered general assumptions of mine. Everyone had a great time, we laughed alot, and I recommend everyone attend at least once. This effort is worthy of our support!
Analysis of Judge Bumb’s Opinion That Put NJ Carry Killer Law On Hold

Judge Bumb went to great lengths to write a well-thought opinion in the matter of a preliminary injunction against New Jersey’s so-called carry killer law which invalidates public carry of firearms in the vast majority of the state. As she pointed out, the legislators who got the bill passed, as well as the state attorneys that are currently defending the new law, have not done any research and have nothing to support their claims of constitutionality.

Judge Bumb Issues Preliminary Injunction In New Jersey Carry Killer Case

Yesterday, May 16, Judge Bumb issued a Preliminary Injunction in the now-consolidated Siegel and Koons carry killer cases that falls squarely on the side of 2nd Amendment freedoms. Right up there with the Bruen decision, this is one of the biggest and best 2A court rulings the Garden State has ever seen. The case isn’t over and could take some time to reach a final conclusion but the PI is a great indicator that we have some permanent freedom coming our way!
